MK Autosport is an automotive custom and performance shop in Independence, Oregon, boasting over 25 years of experience. We specialize in modifying all types of vehicles, particularly Japanese models, and offers a wide range of services to elevate your driving experience.

We have done 100’s of engine swaps, 100’s of fully built engines, 100’s of turbo and supercharger setups, 1000’s of suspension installations and everything in between. Our experience with different makes and modifications allows us to see the full picture when doing a build so we can see where the weaknesses can manifest and come up with a plan to solve those issues. WE also will not bullshit you. If we don’t think its a good idea, we wont do it.

The Journey: 27 years of modifying

MK has been modifying vehicles since he was 18 and started out with his 1976 Toyota Corolla SR5 that he wishes he had kept. He discovered that he could replace his 2TC engine with a 3TC engine and that took a computer nerd away from his desk and into his moms garage all day and all night and it got even worse when his friend took him for a ride in his new Integra GSR. While not totally bit by the Honda bug, MK got more into the Celica’s and MR2’s and into AE86s and from there into drifting and probably did one of the first SR20DET swaps into a 240sx in the PNW in 2002. From there he packed up his 91 RX7 and went to Southern California to pursue work in shops and while there he worked in some of the best shops back in the hay day of Imports. He even did a year in a custom shop doing work on vehicles for celebs like Nelly and Ti. Hell, he even put a Lambo door conversion on a Lambo once. (Gallardo had normal doors and dude wanted “lambo” doors)

The journey has been long and not without upsets and tragedy but when it comes to knowledge MK really knows what he’s doing and just wants to good builds and not work on bullshit. The car scene has really taken a turn for the worse but we know there are still some real enthusiasts out there and more born everyday.

Wasting money is not something anyone wants to do. And while people consider modifying cars a waste of money, its not a waste if it makes you happy. But spend your money the right way, chasing dreams is great but a lot of people get stuck on what they THINK they need vs what is realistic and going to work and bring the most value. Forums tend to chase “hero builds” and people get stuck on “doing something different” and chase odd modifications for clout but in the end the only person you should be building for is you.
